Rainbow Ribbon Rings in Octopus’s Garden

The Elephants, Seals, All-Stars, Monkeys, Giraffes, and Monkeys have been dancing to “Octopus’s Garden” with rainbow ribbons rings.  The song has a great dance beat and transitions that easily lend to movement changes.  Many of the teachers commented that they love the song.

Before handing out the rainbow ribbons, I have all the rings on my arm.  I walk by the students and wave all the ribbons on top of their heads.  They love the sensory feeling of all the rainbow ribbons waving on top of their heads and say it’s like going through a car wash.

Students listen as I call out the movements.  We dance our ribbons as octopus low on the floor, high over our heads, in a circle, side to side, up and down, and even on top of our heads.  We danced and walk around the chairs and with the music, we turn and walk the other direction.  The students love watching the ribbon dance and feeling it as it moves.
