The choir has been working diligently on learning “Friends” by Elton John and “Lean On Me” by Bill Withers. Through the songs, we discussed friendship, how to be a friend, and how we can find friends wherever we go. Students have really taken to both songs and enjoy singing, especially sitting next to their friends. During music class and choir, I have recorded each class singing. The students are proud of themselves and love hearing their own voices. Through the audio feedback, we learn how to work together better to blend our sound as one, listen for the clarity in our words, and work on pitch.
In addition to our two songs, the choir is premiering “The Parish School Song” written by Libby, elementary teacher, and me. The song is a tribute to founder Robbin Parish, the teachers, and the students. We dedicate our song to Robbin Parish and celebrate 30 years of The Parish School.
