Class Holiday Sing-A-Long

This is the last week of school before the winter break!  With the flip-flop of warm weather and cold weather with beautiful blue skies, it does not feel too much like winter with the holidays approaching quickly.  To celebrate and get in the mood, the preschool and some elementary classes had a holiday sing-a-long during our class time.

Using my iPad, I presented song choices of “Jingle Bells,” “Frosty the Snowman,” “Santa Claus,” and “Dreidel Song.”  I pick one student at a time to choose a song they want to sing.  That student also has the privilege to use a real microphone (not pictured) that amplifies their voice throughout the classroom.  The student sings, facing the class, and depending on the song and class, the class may sing with them or just listen.  All students were given bells to give the songs a holiday feel.

A majority of the preschool students, and all the elementary students loved having a turn on the microphone!  Whether they know all the words to the song or not, they enjoy hearing their own voice and were confident to sing in front of their peers.  For the elementary students, this has been great practice for our Winter Sing-A-Long tomorrow where they will be singing in front of all the elementary students and parents.  The microphone has given students a chance to show off their voice and develop their self-esteem as a performer in a safe environment.E.
