Book Fair Pep Rally: Mighty Oaks!

Let’s go Parish, let’s go!
Mighty Oaks!
Let’s go Parish, let’s go!
Mighty Oaks!

Today, The Parish School students, staff, and administrators gathered in the courtyard for a Book Fair Pep Rally.  The theme of this year’s book fair is “All-Star Book Fair: Every Reader is A Star.”  So we decided we should hold a pep rally in the athletic theme as our kick-off event.  I made a book fair banner for each class and taught them our cheers in music class.  They made pom-pom out of newspaper in library class and worked on their cheers.

We’re wild about, we’re wild about, we’re wild about our colors.
Green, white, green, white, green, white.

Teachers and administrators volunteered to be on the pep squad to lead the cheers.  I was very excited to be a cheer leader and even got to do our cheers over the intercom system with a fellow cheer leader.  Book fair is all next week and our pep rally got the students energized about books and Parish School.  This was a sensory friendly event with students holding colored cards (green or white) and pom-pom.  They knew the cheers, followed along, and waved their pom-pom/colored cards.

Book fair, book fair, ooh ahh
Book fair, book fair, ooh ha

With the cheers, the students worked on the rhythm and timing of the words as well as remembering them.  There were many students who were cheering loudly and leading their peers with much enthusiasm.  Everyone was filled with spirit for books and Parish! Go Mighty Oaks!
