Calm Guitar Strumming

The Ducks are an energetic group of students!  So curious, they want to explore all the instruments in the music room.  As a reward for doing well during our movement activity, I gave each student an opportunity to strum my guitar.  Using all their fingers on one hand, each Duck strongly strummed the guitar.  They were immediately rewarded with the sound of the way they played: fast, loud, or slow.

Playing the guitar had a calming effect on the Ducks and the atmosphere.   The energy level dropped and students listened to each other play and wanted another turn.  Smiles emerged from their faces and they enjoyed feeling the strings under their fingers.  This is the start of great musicians!
