First Year Recap

As June draws to a close, so does my first full year of teaching and doing music therapy at The Parish School and Camp Acorn.  It has been full of incredible musical moments, learning experiences for both the students and I.  In addition, there were many firsts: conducting a choir and leading six performances, writing and directing an 80 student musical production with two other teachers, teaching students the synchronized Thriller dance, running the Houston half marathon to raise tuition for the school, celebrating Chinese New Year with a student led dragon dance and parade, and teaching martial arts group classes.  Through this year, I have learned new ways to teach from the students themselves, how to help students find joy in music, and to have fun with music.

I am looking forward to my second year at The Parish School, with group music classes, martial arts group class (download flyer), and individual music lessons (download flyer).  Contact me at hyip@parishschool.org if you are interested in signing up your student for martial arts group class or individual music lessons.

Have a cool summer and see you in August!
