Camp Acorn: Martial Arts Extension

Welcome to Camp Acorn: martial arts extension.

This summer at The Parish School, I am teaching martial arts to the elementary extended day program, after teaching music in the morning.  I bring with me over 11 years of martial arts experience with a varied athletic background in wrestling, running, fencing, and dance.

Martial art is similar to music with rhythm, coordination, and performance.  In the ten classes in the next four weeks, students will learn punches, kicks, blocks, and combinations, all the while developing their self-confidence, discipline, and body awareness.  Through a fun structured class of activities and demonstrations, students learn to try new things and have an opportunity to express themselves.

Martial art is a great time for meditation and self-reflection, especially for the little ninjas.
