Flamingo Flamenco: Theme and Variations

“Look, I’m playing a flute.” (C. Busy-Bees)
“I’m an airplane.!” (J. Wranglers)
“I have a tail!”  (R. Wranglers)

Working with colored ribbons and flamenco music, Bears, Elephants, Busy-Bees, and Wranglers were instructed to dance like flamingos (on one leg) for one song and make up their own to the second song.  Some flamingo flamenco options were to fly, hop, walk, and stand.  Students listened carefully to the music and many of them followed the fast and slow finger picking of the guitar.  They were quite creative in what they wanted to do with their ribbons and as flamingos.  Students were very verbal with “Look at me! I’m….” or “I’m on one leg.” Great movement skills, balancing, coordination, and imagination at work!   They proudly described what they were doing and even inspired their peers to follow their ideas.
