Santa Claus made a visit to The Parish School today! The Bears and Elephants shifted their attention several times to the man in the red suit that they could see through my window shades during music. In doing our reindeer activity, the Bears creatively put their castanets on their nose as reindeer. Instead of identifying the other reindeer by name, I sang about different colored-nosed reindeer for these preschoolers. We had green, pink, yellow, blue, red, and blue-red nosed reindeer! The Elephants wore the different reindeer name tags that I made while playing their colored castanets. We paid a special visit to Santa outside and showed him we were his reindeer. The students were so excited to click their castanets and point to their name tags. A great flight of reindeer! Then I had to take my first picture with Santa!
The Busy-Bees, Wranglers, and Ants reviewed our “How to Perform on Stage” visuals. I also gave a pep talk to each class being a team and group, so we follow the directions together. Every students followed all the instructions and I was so pleased to see expected behavior of quiet bodies and how well they sang their song! Moms and Dads will be very proud. In the past weeks, there have been several students who have sat and watched their friends on stage, overcome by stage fright. Today was a great practice day and I look forward to our Winter Sing-A-Long performance this Friday, the 16th.
